I believe that it is a great opportunity learning Chinese and even more
in a country where one of its languages is the mandarin Chinese. I think that for us is indispensable to have knowledge of the language
, since in many occasions it is difficult to find someone that speaks English, and it is necessary for order in restaurants as to communicate
with our companions of university.
Personally I am very satisfied with the classes which we are taking, I believe that to learn the language appears difficultly, nevertheless in one month, which we take the course, I feel the process, which is slow, but this exist. In my opinion the teacher is very good, she speaks perfect English and this helps so much, if not in many occasions would be very difficult to understand the explanations. The classes go rapidly and you have to study very hard at home if you want to follow the pace of the classes, but it is the way of learning, and I think it is a good method.
I would like take classes the next semester, seeing that with one semester it is not enough. I consider that it is a good idea on the part of the government to offer classes of Chinese in order that
the exchange students will be able to know the language of the country where they are.
I am glad that we have Chinese class offered for international students
in this campus. It will help us to can understand more anything about Chinese. When you add another class focus on writing, I think it will more useful for us since we as students have different background
and different level of Chinese knowledge. For further, since we have 2 different classes, can u make on writing class on Friday become
listening and writing or even with speaking but one step forward than
normal classes. I am not sure this will more helpful or not. I have
thinking like this because as I know or event you know that some of the students already have a basic knowledge about Chinese. For this case, in Friday class maybe you can find a new way how to teach
us, for example let the student to listen Chinese music (slow music), or listen some conversation record and discuss about it. But those
approaches can be applied for next classes, not at this time in advance or you have other way to teach us. At the last but not least,
thanks for your participation in Chinese class as our teacher.

Learning Chinese is the greatest opportunity that we have had since
we arrived to Taiwan. First of all, I would like to point out the teacher’s
skills for teach the classes. She speaks perfect English, and this is a very important asset for the classes’ development. She is very kind
and she always is making efforts for answer our entire question and
supports our Chinese knowledge.
Although learning Chinese is very difficult for me, nowadays I am able to say that I fell how my skills in that language are increasing. In my opinion learning Chinese is very important for interact with the citizens, for order in a restaurant, for visit different parts of Taiwan, even though in Taiwan is very common that almost all the people gets very embarrassed in order to speak English, and it makes very difficult the communication.
I would like to continue my Chinese lessons during the second semester, because I would like to speak Chinese before I will come back to my country. I guess that this kind of knowledge can get closer different cultures.
First, thank you, Yuntech University - Language Center and all Chinese
teachers. In Summer vacation of 2007, the Chinese class is one of the
most activities that attracts many foreign students. Although just for
a short time but we have known much more knowledge of Taiwan
culture, country and the regional people. In school time, besides the
language lessons all of student can participate the discussion about
those topics. Those are not only exercises but also are entertainment
for comparing the curricular subjects, researches. The Chinese class
really is cultural exchanges, studying place and sharing experience
about life. Thank you, Language Centre - all teacher who take care
and teach us. We hope foreign students will continues joining more
This letter has the purpose to express my thoughts and emotions about the Chinese class with Joanne Su in which I participated in the winter semester 2012/2013. First I would like to underline the great support and advice Joanne always gave to us via and either outside the lessons regarding our stay in Taiwan, the Taiwanese and Asian culture, the great varieties of food and so much more. Including that in her lessons helped me to put things I have learned into a context and to make it easier to remind and review what she told us. She always used practical examples during the lessons and handled every questions professionally, kindly and with a great amount of patience. Learning in this environment made it easy to see a very quick progress in my writing, speaking and overall communication skills. She even sacrificed her spare time to make it possible for students to catch up when they missed one class.
Joanne Su always followed a reasonable path, which allowed us to learn vocabulary of certain topics that were easy to conncect. She always payed attentino to every student individually and caused by this a great learning success and experience. She even made excusions with our class to practice our achived knowledge practically in a natural environment. She encouraged us to speak Chines to other students and gave developed exercises that made the first contact easier.
I really like her course, I would always do it again and I entrust every foreign students to attent her course to learn more about the Taiwanese culture and language.
To whom it may concern: I am exchange students from Lithuania and it is really three months since I started to study chinese language in YunTech University. Language is one of the keys for better understanding of different culture and if there is any given possibility then it is always worth to use it.
I am very glad that I have had an opportunity to have chinese classes, which were: -well structured (starting to learn chinese sounds and continuing to more advanced conversations and dictionary)
-intensive and dynamic with various of intereting tasks in the classes and also homework that have been leading to initiate social interactions with local people
-Teacher was very helpful by providing additional customized information depending on each students needs
Benefits that I have got from participation in Chinese classes:
-better integration in Taiwanese society: I was glad to keep practicing things that I have learned in Chinese language classes with my Taiwanese friends. I am able to meet new people by using Chinese language, share my contact details and personal information; also I am able to order food in restaurant, what is very useful.
-better understanding of the culture
-helps to reduce culture shock by using Chinese language independently
I would strongly recommend for other coming international students attend Chinese classes.
