National Health Insurance

Eligibility Requirements

Foreign nationals with an Alien Resident Certificate should join the National Health Insurance from the day their residence period reach 6 months. (Those who do not comply may be subject to a fine of NT$3,000-15,000)

Registration Process

Step 1- Eligible foreign nationals may apply for National Health Insurance at the local District Office

Required Documents:

  1. Passport (original)
  2. Resident Certificate

Step 2- Apply for Nation Health Insurance IC Card

After applying for insurance coverage at the local District Office, applicants must apply for an IC card in order to receive medical treatment at medical providers.

Required Documents:

  1. Application form of Nation Health Insurance IC Card
  2. Passport (original)
  3. Resident Certificate
  4. One 2-inch photo

Step 3- Pay Health Insurance Fees on Time

National insurance fees are payable bimonthly. To ensure individual rights for medical treatment, please ensure insurance fees are paid on time.
